However, what does research actually say about this? In today's video I take a look at two recent Swiss studies that tried to test whether you can actually learn a language in your sleep:

Progress with the Spanish Input course

All the dialogues for the level 1 of the course are already written. Right now I'm reviewing every single dialogue to make sure they're not too difficult to understand, and adding a few extra lines if that can help with comprehension. I hope to have the full level 1 text ready for recording this week.

Wanna take a peek at the first lesson? Here are the very first lines of the first lesson of level 1: (You might have to allow loading of remote images if you can't see it)

The lines in pink will be recorded by a woman and the lines in light blue will be recorded by a man. On screen, you will see different maps with the places mentioned, and hands pointing at them. All the words, except for place names, are among the top 100 most common words in Spanish. All place names are among the top 5000 most common words. So no, we won't be talking about Guanajuato or Palma de Mallorca, as other courses do. The Spanish Input course will be laser-focused on common words. I hate wasting time, so I won't waste your time with uncommon words. And as you can see, there will be lots of repetition. Basic structures such as "What is this?", "This is X" and "X is in Y" will be repeated again and again. And no, there will be no English prompts interrupting the Spanish audio. You will be able to enjoy listening to Spanish without any English thrown in.
